It was a pleasure to be invited onto 'Successful Student Transitions' hosted by Louise Wiles and Elizabeth Gillies.
When you're starting something new, like uni, it can feel exciting and overwhelming all at once. From friendship wobbles to academic disappointments, homesickness, or just the sheer volume of “stuff” to do… it’s a lot.
In this podcast episode, I chat about why these moments are exactly when we need to be our own best friend.
I share:
Why self-kindness is a non-negotiable (especially when things feel tough).
What it actually looks like, and why it’s not about letting yourself off the hook or going easy in the wrong ways.
Why kindness is contagious, and how spreading it doesn’t just help others—it lifts us too.
My Self-Kindness Compass—a simple tool you can use to find your way back to you when life gets full on (you can find this in the 'Gift Box' of my website.)
While I usually work with working mums, it was such a joy to bring this conversation into a student space. Because we all deserve kindness,
especially from ourselves.
